Who is GENERAL PHILLIPS?
Chester Phillips is a World War II general in the Marvel Comics universe appearing mostly in Captain America books. General Phillips first appeared in Tales of Suspense #63 (March 1965). Created by Jack Kirby & Stan Lee.
First Appearance



General Chester Phillips is part of Project: Rebirth, the Super-Soldier program, and he were assigned the task of overseeing subject selection. He takes a personal interest in Steve Rogers as the best candidate for the first test.






Phillips was a hard-nosed commander who did not tolerate errors from his charges.


General Chester Phillips eventually retired from the military and lived a long life. He was killed in a rest home in Kentucky.



ANIMATED APPEARANCE/S

General Chester Phillips, aside in his involvement in Project Rebirth that gave the world Captain America, there was not much known of his other exploits. Most of his animated appearances are brief cameos on Captain America's origin.

TOMMY LEE JONES
Tommy Lee Jones plays Chester Phillips in Captain America : First Avenger, in the movie his military rank is only Colonel as oppose to his comicbook counterpart who is a General. Phillips in the movie was still part of the "super-soldier" program and was screening for candidates. He did not particularly like Steve Rogers to undergo the procedure and would have chosen a more "fit" candidate. Later he would warm up to Rogers, and would finally accept and even respect him as Captain America.
